Pizza night at camp doesn't need to mean bringing half the kitchen with you.
This easy 3 ingredient pizza dough is one of our favourite ways to make homemade pizza when we're camping. There's no yeast, no waiting around for dough to rise and no complicated ingredients.
Just 3 ingredients, a bowl and a few minutes of prep.
It's exactly the kind of recipe we love at ArcMate — simple, practical and made for cooking around the campfire.
Ingredients
- 2 cups self-raising flour
- 1 cup Greek yoghurt
- 1 teaspoon salt
From there, all you need are your favourite pizza toppings and a hot pizza oven.
Step 1 – Mix the dough
Add the self-raising flour, Greek yoghurt and salt to a large bowl.
Mix everything together until it starts to form a dough.
Step 2 – Get your hands dirty
Once the mixture starts coming together, use your hands to knead it into a smooth dough.
If the dough feels a little sticky, add a small amount of extra flour.
If it's too dry, add a little more Greek yoghurt.
You're looking for a soft dough that's easy to handle and roll out.
Step 3 – Divide and roll
Divide your dough depending on how many pizzas you want to make.
Lightly flour your bench, chopping board or preparation surface and roll each piece into a pizza base.
Don't worry about making them perfectly round.
We're cooking around a campfire — not entering a pizza-making competition.
Step 4 – Add your toppings
Now for the good part.
Add your pizza sauce and whatever toppings you've brought along.
Keep in mind that when you're cooking pizzas quickly at high temperatures, less is often more. Loading a pizza with too many wet or heavy toppings can make it harder to get that crispy base you're chasing.
Step 5 – Into the pizza oven
Make sure your pizza oven and pizza stone are properly preheated before launching your pizza.
Once it's hot, slide the pizza onto the stone and keep an eye on it while it cooks.
Depending on your oven temperature and the thickness of your base, it can cook surprisingly quickly.
Rotate the pizza during cooking to help get an even crust, then pull it out when the base is cooked and the cheese is bubbling.
Why This Pizza Dough Is So Good for Camping
There are plenty of pizza dough recipes out there, but this one has become a favourite for camping because of how ridiculously simple it is.
There's:
- No yeast
- No proving time
- No waiting for dough to rise
- Only three ingredients
- Minimal clean-up
You can make the dough at camp or prepare it beforehand and take it with you.
And because the ingredients are so basic, it's an easy recipe to remember without having to pull out your phone every five minutes.
2 cups flour. 1 cup yoghurt. Salt.
Done.
